A partner in the Litigation Department and Head of Wilson & Chan’s Tort and Insurance Defense Litigation Practice Group, Roland Vitanza focuses his practice in the areas of general liability defense and insurance law with particular emphasis upon the defense of construction accident claims brought under the New York State Labor Law, premise liability, and general liability. Mr. Vitanza tries and defends major cases involving construction, motor vehicle, premise liability, and general liability accidents resulting in personal injury, construction defect claims, and municipal liability. Mr. Vitanza regularly engages in all aspects of tort and insurance defense litigation including general contract and subcontract drafting and negotiating, dispute resolution, and both large and small claims relating to indemnification, additional insured coverage, tendering coverage, etc.

Mr. Vitanza has successfully represented a multitude of construction companies, corporations, religious institutions, hospitals, and municipalities in both state and federal court. In addition to construction accident claims, Mr. Vitanza has significant experience litigating premises liability, medical/professional malpractice, property damage and vertical transportation claims. Mr. Vitanza regularly engages in all aspects of litigation from initial case analysis and reporting, evaluation of alleged damages (or injuries), sustainable verdicts in the designated jurisdiction, preparation of pleadings, discovery, court appearances, motion practice, depositions, designation of expert witness, witness preparation, mediation, arbitration, to trial preparation leading up to and including trial and selecting juries, and appellate practice. Mr. Vitanza has tried cases to verdict involving traumatic brain injuries and severe spine injuries.

Roland is a graduate of Hofstra University with a Bachelor of Arts in British and American Literature and is a graduate of Hofstra University School of Law. In 2008, Roland was awarded an internship at the prestigious international law firm Nunziante Magrone, Studio Legale, in Rome Italy. Roland has been awarded recognition as a top ten New York attorney from the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys for the year 2024.
